New puppies?

The other day my little boys were running in and out of their room looking at something. I thought they might have a new toy that I could nibble on and tear up so I went to check it out. Low and behold......it was something furry and little. Furry and little like a new puppy. I really liked the way those things looked and I kept trying to get up to their cages and sniff.

I think they are puppies.......why does my Mom keep telling me to quit sniffing the guinea pigs. Guinea pigs...what's a guinea pig.....that doesn't look like a pig.

Anyway-they tell me the black-and-white one is called Nibbles and the tan one is Goldie Sprinkles. Strange names for new little puppies.
Do they look like me???

Freedom Run 2008

This morning there was a storm with a ton of wind. Really strong wind. Really strong wind that blew our gate to our big yard open. My sister Baylee the Beagle looked at me and here's the conversation that proceeded:

Baylee (while looking at the open gate, the gate to freedom) - Should we?

Allie - Should we what?

Baylee - Run?

Allie - Run? Are you kidding me? We'll be in so much trouble.

Baylee - But it's a Sunday and our parents are probably still asleep. Remember they go back to sleep after letting us out to pee on weekend mornings.

Allie - Why not? What could it hurt?

Baylee - Well, Daddy tied my leash to this big blue bucket so I couldn't crawl under the gate anymore. Do you think I could drag it?

Allie - Sure, I'll help.

So we took off......into the wild blue yonder....across fields of green grass blowing in the wind. Our puppies ears just a flappin' in the breeze. Ahhhh, the great taste of freedom. We loved it.

One of our friends in the neighborhood told us there was a golf course right next to our house. We took off looking for it. When we found it, we ran and jumped and Baylee kept dragging the bucket behind her. "They'll never catch us.....don't worry about the huge blue bucket dragging behind you Baylee." "We're free.....we're really free this time!"

We ran as far as we could see - it was all open grass and fields. Pure dog heaven.

But....as we came to a street I crawled under this barbed wire fence and Baylee tried, but got stuck by the big huge bucket that she was dragging. "Oh no, you have to squeeze under the fence, Baylee!" "Keep trying."

As I played lookout for cars, I saw a very familiar looking car coming up the street. Uh oh....it was Mommy. She stopped in the middle of the road and dragged me into the car and didn't seem very happy to see me. That's strange - no "Hey pumpkin", no "There's my sweetie". Just a stern, "Get in the back seat and don't move." Then she went over to the fence that my sister was caught on and I saw her step in a mud puddle trying to free Baylee. Not a good thing when your Mom is in her work clothes and is already pretty ticked off at us. She grabbed Baylee and unhooked her leash and left the blue bucket there. Baylee scampered into the backseat next to me. "Foiled again." Drats!

Fireworks are loud!

OK-my Mommy and Daddy had a party for the 4th of July holiday. Well, the party was actually on the 3rd since that's when our town has their big fireworks show.

I've decided one thing - firecrackers scare the heck out of me. My Daddy tied me to one of the columns on our front porch so I could be in the middle of the party but I soon discovered that I was rather be in my little safe kennel.
But, my Mommy thought it was kind of cute when I was jumping up and down scared to death of the noise. Does that count as abuse?

I just couldn't figure out why my Daddy would go light this thing in the middle of the street with my little boys and then yell "Incoming" and dive onto the lawn. What was coming? Unfortunately, it was a big boom! And....I didn't like it.
